The area was first called Mount Calvert and took on many personas until the name Grimesland stuck. This charming community is located just eleven miles east of Greenville and eighty-two miles east of Raleigh and sits on the bluffs of the Tar River. Currently, just 440 people make their homes here and property taxes are low by North Carolina standards.
